Executive Director Spotlight

What question does a parent usually ask a child who receives a gift? “What do you say?” The child then responds to the gift giver, “Thank you.”

To you who support the Rockville Women’s Center ministry – you donate, you volunteer, you pray, you come to the banquet, you plan events for our moms – I say “Thank you.”

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to serve the women who come to us when facing unplanned pregnancies. We truly cannot do what we do without you. Thank you for partnering with us in our mission to empower abortion-vulnerable women to embrace life-affirming decisions.

Please join me in congratulating our moms as we welcome 8 new babies whose births were confirmed in May through July 10th. These precious little ones and their families need our ongoing prayers. If you are not a member of our prayer team, I invite you to join the team. Text LIFENOW to 94502 to receive real-time text alerts about prayer requests and answers to prayer about our clients.

You are a blessing. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your family abundantly for your kindness towards His people.

Enjoy your summer!

We all live in a busy world and sometimes it’s hard to simply fulfill one more long-term commitment. So, each month we’ll share five quick and easy things you can do to help save babies and their mothers from abortion. Be sure to watch our list as we highlight new ideas every month!
  1. Mobilize your church to support RWC by organizing a baby bottle campaign! For more information, please email Steffi at [email protected].
  2. Join our Private Facebook Group so you don’t miss out on weekly communication from us!
  3. Set your Amazon account to support Rockville Women’s Center with every purchase you make through Amazon Smile. It’s really that easy!
  4. Commit to becoming a monthly giver. We can plan so much better when we know how much to budget for each month. Monthly gifts help make that happen!
  5. Donate new diaper bags or new baby clothes 0-3 months for our new moms care packs.

Dylan called our helpline in a desperate need to get his girlfriend Traci an abortion because she was 18 weeks, getting bigger each moment and they could not have a kid. “No way! Not now!”

His anxiety was evident as he fumbled over his words saying, he’s applying for abortion scholarship fund money that he heard about. He needed help ASAP!!

“We cannot afford a sonogram for the clinic to date the abortion so we need your free one”

The appointment with us was set and then abruptly cancelled hours later as this couple’s life circumstances overwhelmed them from being able to show up that day. In a last effort to reschedule an appointment for a better day, we called throughout the weekend. They eventually responded through texting and we were able to reschedule their initial visit. The text messages exchanged throughout the weekend calmed their fears and anxieties, and assured them that they were going to receive important information and have someone to talk with about the abortion decision; although we would not help them attain one.

The couple came in for their appointment expecting to see an 18-week fetus, but the sonogram showed that Traci was actually 28 weeks along. The unexpected later gestational age left Dylan in shock as he left the room with tears streaming down his face. He said he could not believe it was a real baby and that he had been avoiding saying that word because he didn’t want to admit what was going on. He sat awestruck that they had created a life. He was dumbfounded over the vividly clear images captured on the sonogram. Dylan left the ultrasound room owning the moment as a father and completely overwhelmed with their reality. Traci rejected the spiritual conversation we offered at first because her overly zealous Christian parents turned her away from church years ago. However, after the sonogram, in closing she opened up to hear more spiritually.

When Traci came back the following week, she brought her mother in which we encouraged her to talk to. Our prayers for Traci’s mom were that she would exemplify the grace of Christ she spoke of so often in this situation.  And praise God, that’s exactly what happened. Traci’s mother embraced her and Dylan and showed the grace we all hope for in our times of fear and rejection. Traci blessed us with the best compliment saying, thank you for reminding me of the Christian faith my mom has and for sharing the scriptures about unconditional love. My mom is a very strong Christian woman. Traci’s once mocking turned into appreciation of her mom’s faith in Jesus Christ.

Traci and Dylan are now going to be parents by the end of summer and preparations and finances are falling into place for them to be able to do so. God is always at RWC and He really presented himself with this story. The LORD’s hand and presence turned fear into joy, insecurity into assurance, and rejection into acceptance. Each interaction with Traci and Dylan has been seasoned with wisdom and God’s provisions that overflowed into each need that they expressed.

In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus declares to His followers that they are the light of the world and that just as you would not hide a light under a bowl, they should let their light shine before others. The result? God would be glorified. These past two weekends, God received the glory for the work done by volunteers from two of our partner churches; GO Church and Church of the Redeemer. Thank you for your service!

GO Church sent 7 volunteers on Saturday, July 6th to do some patch and painting work at RWC. (see attached pic)

Church of the Redeemer sponsored a Family Fun Day, pictured above, as part of their Serve Day on July 13.
